Training And Development Trends In 2024

Training and development trend, Evolving with the times, Constantly learning

The world of training and development is constantly evolving. The year 2024 will be no different. With the rapid pace of technological advancements and changing workforce dynamics, organisations are continuously seeking ways to improve their training programs. Here are the top trends expected to shape the future of training and development in 2024.

Online Training and Virtual Learning

Online training has been on the rise for the past few years. It is expected to continue its growth in 2024. With the increasing availability of high-speed internet and the convenience of learning from anywhere, organisations are turning to online training for their employees.

Virtual learning, which includes webinars, online courses and virtual reality training, is also gaining popularity. This method allows for a more immersive learning experience. According to a report by Technavio, the global online training market is expected to grow by £100 billion between 2020-2024.

Microlearning

In today's fast-paced world, employees often struggle to find time for lengthy training sessions. This is where microlearning comes in. Microlearning involves delivering short bursts of information. These can be videos, quizzes, or infographics, making it easier for employees to digest and retain information.

It is also more cost-effective for organisations as it requires less time and resources to create. With the rise of mobile learning, microlearning is expected to become even more popular in 2024.

Personalised Learning

One-size-fits-all training programs are a thing of the past. In 2024, organisations will focus on personalised learning. They will tailor training programs to meet the specific needs of each employee.

This approach can include using data analytics to identify knowledge gaps and offering targeted training to fill those gaps. Personalized learning not only increases employee engagement, but also leads to better learning outcomes.

Gamification

Gamification involves incorporating game-like elements into training programs to make learning more engaging and fun. It can include leaderboards, rewards and challenges. These elements motivate employees to participate and complete training activities.

According to a study by TalentLMS, 89% of employees found gamification in training motivating while 88% believed it improved their understanding of the subject matter. With the rising popularity of gamification, it is expected to become a prevalent trend in training and development in 2024.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI is transforming the way organisations approach employee training. It can create personalised learning experiences, analyse employee performance and provide real-time feedback. For instance, AI-powered chatbots answer employee questions.

This reduces the need for human intervention. AI also enables adaptive learning. The training program adjusts based on the employee's progress, making it more efficient and effective. According to a report by ResearchAndMarkets the global AI in education market is expected to reach £4 billion by 2025.

Soft Skills Training

In a rapidly changing business landscape, soft skills such as communication, problem-solving and adaptability have become essential for employees to succeed. In 2024, organisations will focus on providing training to develop these skills in their employees. This can include workshops. Coaching and simulations can also help employees hone their soft skills.

The future of training and
development is exciting!

Advancements in technology and innovative strategies are shaping the way organisations approach employee learning. By incorporating these trends into their training programs, organisations can ensure their employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the ever-changing workplace of 2024 and beyond.

Which of these trends are you most excited about?

Until next time ...
